My favorite Takeshi Kitano film. Dolls goes away from the action side of Kitano and brings out a lovely romance in the vein of his earlier film A Scene at the Sea. The film explores three intertwined relationships. Bound by a long red red cord, a young couple wanders in search of something they have tragically lost. An aging yakuza boss mysteriously returns to the park where he once met his long-past girlfriend. A disfigured pop star confronts the phenomenal devotion of her biggest fan. A great Kitano film

  • Takeshi Kitano's movies are different, unique which makes them better than others...But sadly,I think they aren't made for the masses. Not everyone can understand and value them for what they really are-a form of art...

  • This film was one of the most beautiful I have ever seen, I didn't expect it to be so moving! Worth watching!

  • fantastic piece of work

  • I shot my first short film (32 minutes, It's on my YouTube Channel) thinking about "A Scene at The Sea" and "Dolls". "Dolls" made me appreciate every hug and every little touch a boy and a girl have through the film. I made my first film under heavy influence from Kitano's two films dedicated to love, not Yakuza societies. I took a lot from Kitano, adding my own: I wanted my characters to talk rarely. And whey they talk, they talk quietly, because words are not important. Actions are.

  • Kitano is not an artist.... Kitano is a kind of art...
