I also agree about not needing radar, I was out that day as well and we lost radar around 4 or 5, dont really remember and did perfectly fine, I personally dont like using radar, you learn more visually and making decisions based off what your seeing.

It was a beauty. Everything but a tornado!

We werent as worried about the tornado as the enormous hail that was very close to us. There were reports of 7" hail (cantelope sized). The tornado threat was really just a secondary threat

You're going to sue if the cell card company gets you killed? Are you kidding? Any chaser who knows half a shit about chasing doesn't need a laptop when you're actually on the storm. Put down the laptop, and look out the window! YOU are going to get yourself killed!

I made that comment because i was frustrated. Not like i was serious about that. We continued to have software issues...but after this chase, their all solved. August 19th, which was our next chase after this...went perfectly with no issues

My point stands though. You should not even need an internet connection while you are next to a textbook supercell. If it makes you so upset, say screw it, and enjoy the storm!

Quite a good point you have there :-). I couldn't get over the structure of the storm when we were further away

your overexaggerating everything man, canalope sized?, yeah right. btw the biggest hail ever reported was probably a bout the size of a grapefruit. sorry dude your wrongful information will lead you nowhere in the field of meteorology/storm chasing, i only hope you didnt report that to the national weather service, they would just laugh. and if that was reported, send me the web link to where it says that because thats very unbelieveable man. great video otherwise. 4 stars!

Largest hail ever reported was indeed 7" in Nebraska in 2006 from what I hear. I was not the one who reported the 7" hail in Missouri though...and I dont think I ever said I did. We were listening to the radio/media chaser that reported it. The link for the writeup the Pleasent Hill, MO NWS office will be in the message below. There is a picture of the Vortex2 group taking a picture of a hailstone 5.25" in diameter so the storm was capable of producing big hail. Enjoy the writeup!
