Swades: Mohan realizes that it's no longer mere homesickness, his guilt-laden attachment to his childhood foster-mother, nor even his newfound love and admiration for Gîtâ that is drawing him back irresistibly to India. Rather, he recognizes a calling from deep within that has found flesh-and-blood embodiment in and unites within a single archetypal image the two women of his life. Through their midwifery, he has discovered something greater within than his ego-centered individuality. It's as if he's fallen in love with his 'true' self.

  • Friends,

You might appreciate Swades better when you see it again after reading my ongoing review of its aesthetics entitled the "Science of love: look into Gîtâ's eyes in the Homeland."

Click on my user-name above, and when you get to my YouTube profile, click on the link to my svAbhinava website: you'll see the link to the review in the "What's New" section, top of the left sidebar (unfortunately, URLs don't seem to be permitted in these comments).

    Enjoy!

    Sunthar
