This month's classroom program features Monty Robson and Bob Lambert recounting the genesis and fulfillment of the New Milford Scale Solar System.

The McCarthy Observatory team designed and built the six-mile true-scale solar system for New Milford in 2009, to celebrate the 400th Anniversary of Galileo starting modern astronomy with a telescope of his own design. The team that lead the work to do this project will describe the adventure and challenges of designing, building, and implementing a very unique artistic addition to the town, and explain the full meaning of a true-scale solar system model. Even those who have toured this model will learn some fun and interesting things about this unique combination of art and science that is so visible to all in the community.
