Here she is with her loaner device from the company. We had one month to learn how to use it, teach her and show the state it worked for her, to get funding.

  • What a wonderful example of teaching requesting at home in your everyday routines! Thanks so much for posting. I am going to use your example in my parent training sessions. Great job!

  • Thank you! Yes, we had to start out with things she REALLY wanted, then we could move on to other things!:) That's the trick!

  • this is amazing :D and so glad your house looks like mine lol

  • woow that thing is soo cool. if i ever have a child with autism ide totally use it.

  • mabey teach her how to use the vaccum? she'd love it!

  • I love this video I could sit here and watch it over and over and over I love how she uses her machine and such great big smiles. I hope my son does just as well with this device!

  • That sucks that you had to prove to the state that the dynavox was useful. I seriously doubt that anyone without speech issues would be asking medicaid to pay for one of these. Heck, they probobly don't even know such devices exist.

No why would medicaid ever buy me one of these. So I have to go the DIY rout. I have used text to speech software on my laptop. I am also, currently building a wearable computer to use as a speaking machine.

  • My son is scared of the vacuum as well. But when he likes something, we have to do it over and over and over and over and over, or meltdown city.

  • I have so much respect for you. You are so good with her. Shes so smart and beautiful. Thanks for uploading hun!

  • I ca'nt believe that she likes the vacuum. my son is autistic, and he is scared of the vacuum, everytime that i need to vacuum the house, he is at school or somewhere else.

  • cool your house is as chaotic as mine!
