I've been saying it within smaller personal and professional circles for just over a year. I even brought it into a very deep conversation in the wee hours of the morning with some peers and colleagues while on the road recently. But I haven't really said much about it here. So I will.
I'm of the opinion that "Content is King" only when it's all about you. It's time to realize that the revolution is upon us and that "Context" (with your audience/connections in mind) is about to be crowned as the new leader of our social recruiting kingdoms.
For years we've treated job seekers as just that - people seeking jobs. But what if we (the recruiting industry) started to treat them as members of a club versus people actively or passively looking for work? What if we dialed in to their wants and needs just like we would with our customer base? What if we looked for that emotional territory that we could stick a flag in the ground and claim as our own - so that whether or not they are actively looking to work with us they'll continue to return?
