This is the first test of a prototype electric outboard motor built by Inertia Labs under commission (http://www.inertia-labs.com ). The goal was to get performance comparable to that of a 25HP gas outboard. We used twin eTec electric motors, coupled with belt drives, and throttled by an AXE speed controller running both motors. We used two early versions of the ZERO motorcycle LiOn batteries at 48v in parallel.

  • I would totally buy this if it were similarly priced to a 25hp

  • Beautiful, quiet and fast, friendly environment! No matter how many hp equivalent, the important thing is that it works well. Congrats

  • awesome motor what a power!

  • love it!

  • В самый раз для браконьеров

  • try raising the motor up on the transom, that is the best way to get speed, go small amounts at a time till you find the "sweet" spot that plans off decent without to much trouble.

  • wow that's awesome ! wish I could buy one for myself! that's supposed to equal 25 hp? wow.

  • That's great guys! Looks like it moves right along. The earth appreciates it.

  • @v133n Lets see how fast your 5 HP out board would take this boat with all its weight in batteries. Next time you want to compare boats speeds, be sure they weigh exactly the same and that the props are sized correctly, else your argument is a fail.

  • That is sweet!
