My family had an emergency and needed to find a hotel in Ogdensburg for the weekend (7/28/07); however, all of the other hotels were booked except for this one due to a festival in town. The sign outside had the "Ramada" of "Ramada Inn" painted over even though all indications were that this was a national chain hotel. We walked in to find a dirty floor with a dark hallway and vacant restaurant and lounge areas on the sides. Immediately the smell of must and urine could be smelled. My other family members came out to meet me and said that "It's pretty bad" but I was willing to try it. We got our room and began to walk up the 40 stairs to the 2nd floor. The hallway was dark, and on the first landing the wallpaper and drywall was falling from the walls and formed a pile on the floor. The second set of stairs was not lit, and the workers had put a room lamp at the top of the stairs for light. Again, the smell of urine filled the entire hotel. Upstairs there were lights blown, wallpaper peeling, and crooked floors I thought I was going to fall through. Upon walking into our room it was extremely hot (around 95 degrees) and there were iron burn marks on the floor. The wallpaper was peeling across the walls, and mold was growing in the corners. The air conditioning hardly pumped out anything that could be remotely called cold air, and the view outside was of an abandoned factory (the whole area is filled with abandoned factories) and a rusty roof. The bathroom had black stains all over the sink and the towels were stained with yellow and black blotches. The lamp lights were all blown except for one. We checked the beds, as we always do in a hotel, and found humongous urine stains and hairs littering the comforters and sheets. Our family member came over to tell us that there were dead bugs in her room, and the entire comforter was stained with urine. My family members began to cough due to the mold that was in the building, so we decided that we would leave.

We went downstairs to be greeted by a woman coming out of the pool area saying that the bathroom was backed up and smelled horrible in the pool room.

We told the desk clerk we wanted to leave, and she called the manager to come talk to us. The manager went to the room first before coming downstairs, then got in our faces (literally jumped in front of us and pointed her finger) and said that we tore her room apart and that we were the rudest people she had ever met. She came downstairs with towels that were not the ones from our room and were completely stained free and accused of us lying. When I said something, she got in my face and told me "Don't speak to me." She then proceeded to tell us "Those are not stains on the comforters." I questioned this and told her that the video I took will tell the truth...her facial expression turned to shock when she heard I had videotaped the room.

After raised voices and quite the scene we left; my other family members also checked out from their room.

The young desk clerk said "I am so sorry for you" as we were about to leave. She knew what was going on in this hotel, but she was powerless to change it.

We've traveled around the country and have NEVER stayed in a place like this. Please believe all of the reviews except the one that says it has changed; this place has not changed, and you are better off sleeping in your car to avoid getting some disease from this hotel. Also, it IS NOT a Ramada or Red Roof Inn, it is the "River View Resort" and the manager denied ever being associated with Ramada or Red Roof Inn.

Do NOT stay at this place unless you are prepared for the dirtiest and rudest experience of your life.

  • This is a wonderful place to stay at.We have clean rooms nothing like that guy says. There is no PISS stains on our sheets. The stain by the Hvac was a knot. The lady that runs our place is a great person. It is cleaner then it ever has been.If u come and stay with us u will in joy ur stay. We make u feel at home.

  • I don't have to "say" it; the video makes it clear that this hotel is not suitable for humans to stay in. There are over 13 reviews on Google supporting my claims here in addition to the other comments people have left to this video.

  • Ok. Ogdensburg is awsome. And for your information we have gone uphill and we are getting better and better so shut up stupid and learn what you are talking about. You are talking about the home of the Blue Devils we are one of the best teams in the state! Our football team has beet over 50 teams and over half of them got football scholarships for collage. So learn what you are talking about there before you go running your mouth because we are better. No hard feelings but im telling the truth.

  • Everything you said in this comment doesn't mention the hotel at all. I was not attacking Ogdensburg, I have family all over the area including in Lisbon and I love it there. How good the football team is doesn't make this hotel not suck.

It's called constructive criticism, try it sometime.

  • That once used to be a beautiful hotel. It all went downhill when the Patels bought it. They are from India and are accustomed to buying hotels and running then into the ground. They are greedy and horrible at business.

There are no abandoned factories on that side. There is an abandoned warehouse across the street.

  • That hotel is no longer in service and it use to be in good shape to people became careless like they always do in Ogdensburg. It's why we have nothing.
