I went on a walking safari and one of the lions jumped me from behind, and before I knew it I was down on my knees. Only one of the rangers saved me from further problems.
I wouldn't have it any other way however. Humans have been insulated from the wild for too long; so much so that we now only have each other to turn on.
I suspect the human population would be much lower if nature could find her way back properly into our lives!

@africansafarijournal but why walk in the safari in the 1st place if u know that they are wild dangerous animals. Better not walk in the safarui in the 1st place and avoid anyone human being been hurt or killed and any animal hurt or killed. Cuz remember, ur invading the animals territory in the 1st place so they have the right to kill. I bet ull do the same if u see a lion in ur backyard.

what is with these IDIOTS going out on foot safaris??? WHY? you cant as far because your get tired. you have to keep farther back than if you are in a jeep, and of course you are in far more danger if they get sick of you. it makes no sense. you have to kill the animal if it attacks. its just nuts.

LOL, ok, Lions would love to eat you!

Before you die? I hope it doesn't become the only thing you do before you die ;)

I would have Maasai warriors and people with guns, lol. You're very lucky to not only be alive but to have experienced something that nerve-wracking/exciting and beautiful. I would love to go on one of these walks before I die : )

Fuzigish8 is right, it is not about the 'cheap thrill' (it ain't cheap!lol), it is about having the opportunit to respect the beauty of nature. The guides are incredibly well trained on animal behaviour and safety procedures, expecially the walking safari guides. Although, there is obviously a great adrenaline rush as well, which you don't get from being in the jeep...I'm wanting to train to become a safari guide!

They not dangerous, we are!! il rather get the thrill of walking with lions than die being a pussy

Its nothing to do with a cheap thrill, it's for people that love nature and the outdoors. You go with experienced guides and you learn about everything from the tiniest insects to the biggest elephants.
@Jose92324 The way things are now is unnatural, humans being amongst animals is the way things were so by going on a walking safari you're going back to raw nature. Yes they are dangerous and most people are not informed or equipped enough to deal with them that's why one should only go with qualified rangers who study their behaviour and anticipate dangerous situations & get u out of danger. Ideally the animals shouldn't even know u're there. No, I wouldn't kill a lion if found in my back yard!

jpcrecom, the guide was Kally and the tracker was Ozzy.
JoeCa, ja... the gun is just for in-case emergency. God forbid it need to be used. The guides really will only use it as a very last resort to protect the customers. Because they know the wildlife behaviour they are in MOST cases able to avoid dangerous situations.
theredpill99 - fear of the unknown... most animals will do that.
