  • I also believe, no disrespect to the civil rights movement, but where it failed was its lack of economic empowerment of our people. When we become self sufficient and self sustaining, and therefore a viable force to be reckoned with, black people will attain the dream, or (get over), as the elders used to say.

  • So profound. Definetly going to have to purchase this mans book. Alot of true statements, about personal empowerment. Difference between being out, and coming out, was a profound statement I thought. With the need for more of us to be visibly who we are, hopefully in a positive nature.

  • Idiot there are drug dealers, cheaters, etc... in the church. So there is a gay man in the choir. Let God change him. Who are we to turn away sinners. Finally, the Bible is clear against homosexuality and other sins. Stop trying to water down the Bible. This guy is so smart he is ignorant.

  • Keith Boykin = homosexual. MLK would slap the shit out of this woman.

  • its not the black church that is homophobic, it's the church in general. you never out people, keith. let people come out when they are ready. they have that choice. you do not dictate to anyone what they should do. it's their personal choice.

  • Keith Boykin is his own worse gay self-loathing and black homophobe. His online newspaper "blackens" out gay issues. Unless he feels like blacks will lose their welfare payments then he'll publish an alleged gay story. Boykin doesn't speak for the gay community, anymore than he speaks for the black gay community. And he moreso doesn't speak for my totally top, white, employed, gay boyfriend and me.

  • Keith Boykin is his own worst gay self-loathing and black homophobe. He can't talk about gays overcoming their "internalized oppression," because he seems to advocate the exact opposite. Boykin started an online black newsmagazine recently, which I've visited only once or twice. It's another deeply disturbing attempt of Boykin "blackening" out gays. He doesn't speak for gays, no more than black gays. And,he certainly doesn't speak for me and my equally gay, employed, totally top white boyfriend.

  • Being out is the most powerful tool we have. It is one of the few things we can do that almost always has a positive effect.

    Glad to see this posted.
