  • this is starting to feel like a chat room.

The reason I support Barack is because he wants to take this country beyond the trivial, like flagpins. If it isn't that distraction, it is something else. These are designed for politicians to divide and conquer. It brings the conversation down to a preschool level, and I am sick of it. I agree that he stopped wearing one because in congress it had become an alternative to showing real patriotism.

Using troops as pawns on a chess board is unpatriotic.

  • He said he won't wear it at that time, because it was being used as an alternative for real patriotism, and he'd rather be judged by his actions, I don't fault him for deciding to wear one that had special meaning to him when given to him by a veteran. :)

  • Bryanamburgey, there is so much you don't know about history, the constitution, and governance from your statements its amazing. I don't blame you. I blame the educational system.

  • POS!

  • Lol America on war; They turned up so late for WW1 they shouldn't of bothered, WW2 they turned up a bit earlier but still lost less than Russia and Britain, but you seem to want to start WW3 early!

  • OBAMA-BIDEN '08

  • He did it on his own time. He didnt stick it on right after the controversy.

  • The stories besmirch the reputation of the anti-war movement and help construct an alibi for why we lost the war: "had it not been for the betrayal by liberals in Washington and radicals in the street, we could have defeated the Vietnamese". The stories also erase from public memory the image, discomforting to some Americans, of Vietnam veterans who helped end the carnage they had been forced to take part in.

  • Stories of spat-upon Vietnam veterans are bogus. Born out of accusations made by the Nixon administration, they were enlivened in popular culture (recall Rambo saying he was spat on by those maggots at the airport) and enhanced in the imaginations of Vietnam-generation men — some veterans, some not.
