GRRREEAATT 'how-to' for "That'll Be the Day!" Here's an idea -- how 'bout for your next installment, you show us a 'how-to' on Buddy Holly's "I'm Lookin' for Someone to Love"? As you're probably aware, that was the flip side to "That'll Be..." and it's in the same key. What say you? Keep on rockin'!

No doubt one of the coolest guitar "how-to's" I have seen to date! Rock on!

Eddie: do you typically tune down a half step on your videos?

Love the comments. But Guys c'mon. We are talking 1956. At that period blues was influencing a lot of popular music but rock blues was defined as a hybrid style in the 1960's. This was one of the first songs that Buddy fully influenced in his style of guitar playing. Rapid downstroke technique with the pick, and the solo is a lot of double stops. The rythym is swing. the above description would also fit Johnny b goode.

See above. But if you want to try it out and have a bit of fun use a pencil and a rubber band. I forgot my capo on a gig once, and lived to fight another day. I would get yourself a capo though, as you will find many occasions to use it.

Is it possible you can do it without a capo, I'm in a band and my guitarist plays That'll Be The Day without a capo.

Yes you can do it without capo. I play it live without one. It doesn't sound as good as the chords have a brighter sound with the fact that the capo shortens the guitar scale. Just play standard A and D. The intro is a little harder, but not impossible
