A particularly strong use of metaphor is evident in this clip from EFT Master Gwyneth Moss DVD set, EFT Helps. The client, Gillian, offers a series of highly traumatic events that all seemed to occur at the same time, and with the help of Gwyneth is able to find an expressive and appropriate metaphor that allows her to cope with the overwhelming emotions enough to allow EFT to begin to address the issues. Gwyneths use of Protective Distancing again showcases her sensitivity to the client, and the very compelling imagery seen here becomes not only a protective factor but a tool that evolves throughout the entire session. Gillians metaphors quickly become representative of her issues, as is often seen, but also of her progress and movement forward as they experience very distinct changes along with the client. This is a great example of how things emerge even though the client may think that he or she already dealt with them, and how an effective therapist allows for this necessary exploration. More than OK. I used EFT on all the events and trauma that followed and now have great peace on all of this. This is only a small part of what I had to do though, there is an interview on my website about what happened next
