From The Cumberland Trio's great Sept 24, 2004 landmark reunion concert DVD, their special friend and guest artist, the incredible singer/ songwriter Taylor Pie, performs brilliantly one of her signature songs, Time. This great song was a # 1 hit on the Billboard Pop Charts in 1968, when Pie was the lead singer and star of the famed Pozo Seco Singers of the late 1960s, who had several songs high on the Billboard charts. With Pie singing, writing and performing better than ever, this version of this wondrous song features Pie's intro about how Time became # 1. This video is something to behold, as The Cumberland Trio sings the beautiful background harmonies performing as Pie's "Pielettes!" • i must say i"ve heard peter, paul and mary and the pozo seco singers do this song, and i"m impressed the way taylor pie rendition of this folk song sounds, she really has her heart and soul into it, and the harmony of the cumberland trio sounds great. great post!!!

  • Thanks!! FYI, Taylor Pie was Susan Taylor, 18 year old lead singer of the Pozo Secos back when they had the big hit!! :-) Like good wine, she just gets even better with age.

  • If you liked this one track down a copy of "Walking On The Moon" by Taylor. Available on her first CD.

The Pozos were undoubtedly one of the best folk/folk rock groups of the 60s.

  • John, Walking On The Moon IS an incredible song!! That cut was done in her own little closet sized studio at home. She performed it with her buds The Cumberland Trio in a 2003 concert in Chattanooga, TN. The audience reaction was unbelievable- standing-O!! I was there.

  • Cont'd from previous comment. If he sang the song, he owned it. She said thanks but no thanks and we left. There is so much more .... Hearing her sing this, I'm sitting in my office crying!

  • Taylor Pie and these guys make an incredible combo! What a great song! Pie is just magnificent! The Trio's harmonies are superb, and the dobro player just adds tasteful licks.

  • Simply great! Mellow!! Still a favorite song and a favorite performer.

  • Pie, you are the best! I had forgotten how many good things you had. I am so glad you are still going on.

  • Noone sings Time Like Taylor Pie that is my story and I 'm sticking to it. Period. What a beautiful song .

  • Susan still has a fantastic voice and this is a great song. Only comment other than that would be to maybe speed it up a bit.

  • Peace be with you Brother for posting all these fantastic videos! If the world would just mellow out to great music and gifted singers and muscians like these I'd like to think we'd have a kinder world.

  • ...then...and now...Taylor Pie just turns me to mush when she sings Michael Merchant's incredible song...

  • Taylor Pie was the lead singer of the Pozo Seco Singers.

  • Susan Taylor, Lofton Cline, Don Williams, and ME went to talk with Johnny Cash about this song. He & June Carter were appearing in Corpus Christi with the Statler Brothers. We went to a steakhouse on the outskirts of Corpus and met with them. Johnny Cash was so messed up (it was well before his clean period) that he really couldn't interact. He said he like the song, but told Susan that he wouldn't give credit to Mike Merchant or anybody else.

  • I remembered the hook line, but had not heard the song for God knows how long. Glad you posted this very nice rendition. Superb!
