The pictures are of the former Glengarnock Steelworks in Ayrshire, Scotland - mainly from tiscali website. This area of Scotland suffered the same fate as many others at this time. Closedown. The pictures of the cleared steelwork site are from Flicker and the photographer was - http://www.flickr.com/photos/gordonjc/4630002065/ . The song was written by Patrick Gabriel Doyle in 1988 to reflect the economic depression and high unemployment at that time. . . Hey, that has a familiar ring to it!!

This version of the song features: Patrick Gabriel Doyle - Vocals, guitars, accordian etc., Caroline - Vocals and Kenny Welsh on percussion.

It's easy to fall in - it's how you get back out that counts

Happy Valley Lament

An' where dae ye come fae
An' where are ye gaun
When dae ye expect a reason tae fa'
Right intae yur haun

The past is ahint ye
Noo that it's gaun
We'll deal wi the day
The past is the Garnock flowin' away
Still there but still chingin'

Say aye tae the future
Say aye tae the past
Say aye tae the first life that yiv lived
Say aye tae the last

An' at last it's ahint ye
Noo that it's gone
Steel wisni the way
At last it's time tae plant the land
In space where the steelworks lay

Say aye tae the future
Say aye tae the past
Say aye tae the first life that yiv lived
Say aye tae the last

An' where dae ye come fae
Where are ye gaun. . . .
