@1982CFD Assuming we did all "awaken," as cool as that would be we'd all be equal and eventually we would compete once more in order to become better.
If we could all awaken we'd achieve a higher level of being and eventually aristocracy...but I don't see that happening anytime soon, so I just make the best of it and try to accept the world as it is.
Overman is not plural. Many go under just for him, but he himself goes under for the world. There is an insect species called the Zoraptera. Zoraptera are born wingless and without eyes, yet once in a while the whole colony will produce one Zoraptera with eyes and wings who will then fly forth, scout around, and find a new home for his colony. I believe this to be a perfect anology for the Overman.
@1982CFD Human being are like seeds. Not all seeds sprout and grow, however. Those might not have been planted in the right area or found the right enviroment. Out of all the seeds that are randomly spread, only a few sprout their potential. Should we lament this?
No.
We don't look down remorsfully at a bag of seeds, regreting that not everyone of them will sprout. Nietzsche himself said that life wants to squander itself.

@obiwanobiwan13 I'm not sure everyone can be an Overman, and I say that not with a misanthropic bent. A real Overman would overcome even resentment and contempt of man, else he still be just a man. Not everyone has the capacity to "awaken" nor should we wish it otherwise. We instinctivly cleave to solitude, we don't wait for others to rise to our level.
@f1ghtclub2k3 My concept of freedom. sometimes the value of a thing does not lie in that which it hels us to achieve, but in the amount we have to pay for it-what it costs us. For instance, liberal institutions straightway cease from being liberal, the moment they are soundly establiched: once this is attained no more grievous and more thorough enemies of freedom exist than liberal instituaions!

@tiakpark I wouldn't take from that though that it would be impossible or undesirable that every person should "awaken".
