btw: why not checking another modern view on the smith chart: - a transmission line is just a latitude circle on that :): a 3d smith chart based on the riemann sphere for active and passive microwave circuits -on the 3d smith chart website is a new vision on it based on the june 2011 IEEE MWCL article
