Bearing Witness: Raymond Baker (full speech)

Raymond Baker, director of the Washington-based think-tank Global Financial Integrity, says at least $1.2 trillion of illicit money leaves developing countries every year, compared with the estimated $120 billion which these countries receive in aid. In other words, he said, for every dollar that the West was handing out across the table, they were taking back 10 dollars under the table.Mr Baker was speaking about what he called the "shadow economy" at Bearing Witness, a Christian Aid campaigning event in Manchester on 1 October 2011.
