Machine Song
Datalink One:

Story Version

This was an interesting experiment in creating Techno Metal. It also acts as an Overture of sorts to the album.

I built the first part of this song from an assortment of Virtual Instruments that came within Cubasis VST 4. Drums, one rock guitar, one metal guitar and four layers of a sound called "Brother Gregory." I wanted it to sound like a choir of computers.

I then exported all tracks from Cubasis VST and imported them into Cool Edit Pro v2.1. When compiled, I recorded bass guitar and various synth sounds from my Korg Triton LE.

Written, peformed, recorded and produced by Jonathan Durnford.

Under creative commons.

  • Thank you everyone! I really appreciate it! The album is fully written and recorded so I'll try to knuckle down and post the rest of it!

  • The Sad fact is we all know that this Message is True! Einstien is quoted as haing said that the definition of Insanity was 'Doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different Result' Will we ever learn?

  • I hope so!

  • You pinned down the right atmosphere dude. A lot like the Animatrix.

  • A horrible truth really.

    But a cool song. ;)

  • I'm not sure what you mean by "sound innefficient machine."

Yes, of course it is not comparable. Mozart's Requiem is a piece of classical music, and this isn't. It's like like saying, "What is better, a chair or an orange?" They are simply different.

A Requiem is a piece of music that mourns the death of someone. They often feature choirs. This piece, due to its story, features a "choir of computers." This piece mourns not over the loss of one person, but the loss of humanity, itself.
