  • Cool, Ward's Crossing, Awarua. I remember the little 'Planet' 0-4-0 shunter that worked this spur over SH1 as a kid, with the unique flashing lights only protected crossing - no bells. Flanges squealing because the track is so light and on a sharp curve. (The only other set up I saw was Tasman Rd in Hamilton.) Agree with DF6254, shunts at least twice a week. The DSG is now the most powerful loco allowed on the whole Bluff line due to it's very rundown state!

  • @2000Ajjet I think nearly all locos still have running rights down there. I believe with a shortage of DSG class in Invercargill in recent times that DC class have been doing the job
