Yeah, I also work in a small pet store and share your opinion about Science Diet. It's actually more expensive AND cheaper quality so there's no justification for buying it unless there aren't any specialty pet stores near you, and you don't like ordering online. I personally feed my cats Health Extension for $32 for a 20 pound bag. Top quality food for a very good price.

I agree. Science Diet 's parent company, Hills, have a lot of shares in many veterinarian clinics, which is what pressures vets into promoting it. If you look at the ingredients, it is mostly corn (an awful filler) and meat byproduct (garbage!), neither of which offer nutritional value. I worked at an small pet store, and honestly I would never feed that to my pets. You might want to start buying from small pet food companies, and make sure to check ingredients for real meat.

Why do you feed science diet? The ingredients are disgusting and it's incredibly overpriced for what you're getting. The only reason vets recommend it is because when they were in vet school they might have taken an ELECTIVE course in nutrition taught by a HILLS/SCIENCE DIET representative. It's got all sorts of nasty by-products in it. You'd do much better feeding something without by-products or corn in it, I'd recommend Wellness, Innova, or Solid Gold.
