  • Actually this passage is from one of two plays by Cummings, titled HIM. His other published play is called, Santa Claus.

An almost ancient composition of Jungian archetypes strung together by human fiber, fired out of the cannon of experience into a tiny glass filled with failure, contempt, resignation and shot through the firmament of reality with a frailty of childhood and the cool demeanor of the Chesshire Cat (only spelled correctly, of course) he mutters . . . . .
