Sen. Landrieu Townhall in Reserve, LA 8/27/09

After a few individuals express that they do not believe all citizens should be treated in the emergency room, Sen. Landrieu is interrupted by a man with something to say. In perhaps the most disgusting display of honesty in the recent anti-Obama/anti-Health Care reform hysteria, one townhall attendee explains that "everyone can not have equal [health] care" because "everyone is not equal." Health care is a human right and make no mistake it is THE civil rights issue of our generation. It's time to move past the lies, the misinformation, the hatred and the racism and pass comprehensive health care reform NOW!

Why do some people put all their faith in government and not in themselves?? Believe in God and believe in your self...not BIG government!!! To answer this question treat them but garnish wages and to set up a payment plan.

You can NEVER argue anything on the merits of the issue. This bill is nothing more than about having control over your life not about providing healthcare or making it better or making it more affordable FOR ALL! , Affordabilty for all is equality (civil rights?) Not taking it from some and giving it to another group(in your mind minorities since you say this is a "civil rights" issue).

The government should not be helping you buy a car or giving insurance. Government cannot give you anything that it does not take from someone else through taxes. Why do you think you are entitled to some elses property or fruits from their labors??? This issue has NOTHING to do with civil rights but as usual anyone who agrees with the president make this a racial issue.

I was there and was seated near this man. He is correct. Inherently we are all "equal" and our lives are equally as important. However, government can only attempt to insure equal oppurtunity, not equal outcomes. If you work harder (that does not mean physically harder as activity is not the same as productivity) If you work harder and have more money than you can buy nicer things, whether that is cars or insurance, and healthcare is no different.

I agree with Iraqveterankill4real. A government run healthcare system would be a disaster. We have the best healthcare in the world; people travel to the US when they are sick to see our doctors. Why are we trading in for a model that will leave people on waiting lists?

Healthcare is not a right I do agree that it needs reformed but not a gov run reform option that is insane I dont trust them with my mail let alone my health.USE FED EX if you want it to get the on time or even get there same goes with my healthcare
