The audience receives slide whistles, shakers, and other instruments while attending the nation's most respected International Performance Art Festival, 1998. They begin to play, and the distant boom of a drum and horn band grows closer. Costumed clowns and cowbell players enter and proceed to journey through a shadow puppet history of the Earth, beginning with the dance of the sun and the moon, set to an ancient 7-count Nawaqt rhythm, flowering into the Garden of Eden, set to a classic 12-count Bembe. Environmental Encroachment.

  • This still cracks me up after all these years. Nice integration of yoga practice with shadow clowning! Laurie Wenner's cool visuals, and some wicked down-home bembe rhythm. The Garden of Eden ends with a lover's spat...so sad
