  • Aren't bugs supposed to be outside where they belong and bug zapper's inside the house where they belong?

Yeah, there no where as high as Sears' are.

  • @VICNASTY1989 Looks like Flowtron's prices aren't too bad for the parts they have :)

  • @XmasLightsGuy

I don't quite remember but I think I paid $40.00 for the transformer to the Sears 80-watt Bugwacker 10 years ago. Their prices are always a little bit excessive. Better to wait for one used to deconstruct.. If you are looking for other parts like soldered starters or cages, you can go directly to Flowtron.com, they have selected parts for their models. Nice find on the $1 zapper!

  • @VICNASTY1989 Yep I knew there were multiple grid-voltages out there

I did go check Sears's parts site...the prices there could give someone a heart attack! LOL

I have seen bugzappers at thrift stores & garage sales (paid a buck for one this summer, it works, but i never put it up. LOL. Pretty soon it'll be time to put them away for the winter)

Depends if its a 4000, 5000, or 5600 volt (there are numerous other voltages used also) check the Sears parts website (they haven't made Bugwacker's in almost a decade but they still sell the parts for them), keep an eye out for zappers at yard sales, and on trash day (once and awhile I'll see one sitting in a pile of junk on the side of the road) you'll find one.

  • @VICNASTY1989 Yep that is one thing about sears, that you can order parts!

Had a neighbor once that had a Bugwacker...that thing was the best bugzapper i've seen!

  • @XmasLightsGuy

Sears is amazing that way, you can order parts for anything they have made. I will make a video sometime of that zapper, its a Sears Bugwacker the transformer was fried, and some of the wiring was fused to the metal housing. The extension cord was also fused to the power cord (they melted together). I basically overhauled the entire thing and it works again. It got struck almost 10- years ago now.

  • pretty amazing that you were able to fix the one of yours that got struck!!
