Btw, here's the lyrics:

It was the first snow of the season,
I can almost see you breathing
In the middle of that empty street

Sometimes i still see myself
In that lonesome bedroom
Playing my guitar and singing songs of hope
For a better future

Life is only as good as the memories we make
And I'm taking back what belongs to me
Polaroids of classrooms unattended
These relics of rememberance
Are just like shipwrecks
Only they're gone faster than the smell after it rains

Last night when everyone was sleeping
I dreampt of my old neighborhood
And resurrected memories from ashes
We said that we would never fit in
When we were really just like them
Does rebellion ever make a difference

Life is only as good as the memories we make
And im taking back what belongs to me
Polaroids of classrooms unattended
These relics of rememberance are just like shipwrecks
Only they're gone faster than the smell after it rains

So long, astoria
I found a map to burried treasure
And even if we come home empty-handed
We'll still have our stories and battle scars
Pirate ships and wounded hearts
Broken bones and all the best of friendships
And when this hourglass has filtered out it's final grain of sand
I'll raise my glass to the memories we own

This is my world
And I'm taking it back
I'm taking it all back

  • i just saw them last night at eleanor rigbys i snuck out to see them and im grounded for a month but it was worth i crowd surfed and got to go up on stage

  • just about to graduate from college after 6 long years. I'm my mid 20's and this song always reminds of times when the world seemed so much bigger, and dreams weren't just meant for the movies. The older i get the more responsibilities I have, but it's songs like these that bring back those old feelings, and those times i'll never forget. No one wants to work that 9 to 5 day in and day out, but we all can't be millionaires and rock stars. At least we'll always have these songs to take us back

  • The best. Summer album. EVER.

  • "Life is only as good as the memories we make" - Probably one of the best sentences ever. And I've this sentence tattooed on my left shoulder, remembers me of my mother! R.I.P!

  • @jmen808 so true man... idk if i i like or hate this nostalgic feeling... but i keep coming back to listen to good old pop/punk stuff... good days...

  • "some times i still myself, in that lonesome bedroom, playing my guitar and singing songs of hope for a better future" - i love this line in the song. pretty much sums up my highschool years.

  • I love all the refrences to the Goonies =D

  • @StarOfJacob Well then we're not so different, you and I, except I stopped chasing my dreams for like 5 years and re-learned the importance of it. It seems like many people are stuck on stand by. Maybe they need to experience something that reminds them of their "sense of wonder", or help remind them that dreaming is still an option.

I agree 100% living in fear is not the same as living ones life.

  • @StarOfJacob - You're a lucky minority then. Maybe your teenage-hood wasn't as crazy as some people but if I remained the same I'd be in a pretty bad spot in life lol, but I miss it and I still listen to this music. Most people allow the growing necessities of life to change who they are (many of The Ataris old listeners I would imagine), and they allow these necessities to define their "peak" point, which spawned the phrase "things are all downhill from here". Maybe we lose the sense of wonder
