This video highlights the research findings of an article published in the journal Physcial Review Letters by NSCL postdoctoral research associate Andrew Steiner and University of Amsterdam assistant professor Anna Watts.

The article titled "Constraints on neutron star crusts from oscillations in giant flares" suggests a new composition of atomic nuclei form the outer crust of a neutron star.

The findings are based on analysis of X-ray bursts generated by highly magnetized neutron stars called magnetars.
