Why compare at all? They are both better than 99.9% of the rest of the world. Just enjoy and stop making it a damn contest.

Lindberg is more of a solo performer. The way he moves while he plays helps emphasize the direction and emotion of the motion.
Technically I think Lindberg has greater proficiency and Alessi has greater range and sound.
Style is completely different. Alessi has this heavy, yeah thats a trombone style, Lindberg is quite a bit lighter.
Then again Alessi's day job is the NY Phil, where Lindberg gets his bread from composing/conducting/solo work

So is it me or does every "epic" trombone solo end on a High F?
-
Is his trombone silver plated? I'm not sure but it's hard to tell from this video quality. I am thinking no.

last time i checked christian lindberg wasnt the principal trombone of any orchestra, let alone the NY Phil.

Alessi sounds awesome as usual. I always learn from watching him play.

gives me chills everytime i hear it.

This is a very strange piece, it sounds so random throughout all three parts until 4:30 at which point a clear melody breaks out. A real crowd pleaser if you will.

Well Alessi plays on huge mouthpieces unlike Lindberg
Again, glad you enjoyed it, luistromb! Joseph Alessi is such a phenomenal musician; I think there should be more of him (also CV, ML and JM etc.) on the web.
