What The Military Should Have Done

As Bob Schieffer notes, a government psychiatrist with a bad performance rating, actively trying to leave the Army, with radical views on the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq should have been dealt with long before the massacre at Ft. Hood last week.

regardless of what he says there is no way he can even try to justify himself, he simply went insane. he snapped thats all there is to it. he was under alot of stress and went insane.

he will try to justify himself and he better have some damn good lawyers for that becuase he wasnt even in an armed area of the base. and i hope he dies so we don't have to waste loads of money investigateing

I'm not sure but there might be something to his harassment claims. When the gunmen die there is much speculation but not a whole lot of hard evidence as to why they did it despite videotapes, letters, diaries and other stuff that gets outed in the pres and makes the guy look even crazier than he might be. Who knows but if he explains himself cogently it can't help the military and that particular base. It could only be unconvincing or throw the base into a negative light, not positive.

I just realized he was taken off the ventilator because he can breathe on his own. If his brain isn't totally fried he may live to tell his story. This is so rare. Mass shooters always die by suicide or sniper fire. This could be very interesting. The female cop who took him down took three shots. She's a bad ass. Fox is already running with this as the single largest terror attack on America since 9/11. That sounds fairly irresponsible. The guy was cuckoo for cocoa puffs and freaked out.

This is nothing new it's just a stellar example of what you'll find in every single facet of government. At EPA you'll find both zealots who go way beyond the law to stop those industrial activities the environmental advocacy groups have demonized and others who ignore the law simply because they are lazy. Same goes for every other agency and organization. The trouble is there are no leaders left in government including the military.
