Perhaps the question has already been answered, but Russians tend to do a larger variety than Bulgarian lifters. They use a lot of strength building exercises, like presses, push presses, different pulls and squats and do the competitive lifts less often. Furthermore, they don't max out daily on every lift like the Bulgarians and tend to train with weights around 70-80% of their max more. Their theory is that once the technique is there, you just need to get stronger.

in soviet russia, weight allows you to lift it.

@eigeoiegf45 It basically depends upon the time of their competitive year. In a nutshell, their sessions will be mainly snatches and cleans and jerks or sub-movements such as the snatch balance. They will do some 'assistance' exercises... front and back squats, chest press and pull ups but a massive amount at all.

People call this a minamilst gym, yet I WISH I had a gym near me like this. All I can see around here are basically healthclubs.
eigeoiegf45, you seem to know a lot about the Russians and their training. How does their programming differ from the bulgarians beyond the reduced volume and presence of formal periodization? Do they do both lifts every day? What's their exercise selection like beyond the lifts+squats? There's a video of chigishev benching 225kg, do they train that lift often?

@VastChoirs Dammmn, dude. I don't know much about their training to be honest. I just know that it's not just the three lifts over and over again as the Bulgarians supposedly did. I guess it's more of a well-rounded approach that incorporates some muscle building and other exercises in.
