Breast cancer or mammary cancer is a common type of cancer found dogs, and dogs that are not spayed are more likely to develop mammary cancer. To help detect breast cancer in dogs and cats pet owners should perform monthly mammary exams on their pets that are five-years-old or older. To perform these mammary exams gently rub your fingers up-and-down your pet's chest and abdomen feeling for any lumps or bumps. Just like in people early detection of dog cancer symptoms is important, and if you think your dog or cat may have cancer be sure to take them to your veterinarian.
