@thetazzbot my basenji Eddie is very good with kids and every adult he's met so far as well. I believe it's a matter of socialization. If you get the dog as a pup and have them around children who are gentle you should be fine. Cute video.

@beyonceboy100 I have a basenji and he is not at all like that. And I have many friends with basenjis as well and they aren't that aggressive.

Why would u tease ur dog like that?leave him alone freak.u should not have a basenji.poor dog.

@thetazzbot Why does he try to bite his owner im schocked i love this breed but ??!! Do all bansenjis do that

I have a basenji as well and you certainly have to establish yourself as the alfa because they believe they are equal or better than you. It took a lot of work to 'tame' the one I got, and now he's just the best dog ever. Hard to train, independent, dominate, and fun all at the same time. I have a black lab female that is his companion and constant playmate. But he is impatient with little kids, so be wary of them around youngsters.

I have 2 basenjis. I do believe you have stolen Cadeau and renamed her Niles. People unfamiliar with the breed aren't able to recognize the different vocalizations which reveal that Niles is not psycho/hostile/terrorized. Basenjis can have what I call tourettes, once they start growing it has to end with a snap (directed to the air) in order to stop the growl. I believe basenjis need to retain their own boundaries in order to remain free. No discipline for boundary games.
ur dog must hate you..

He love me, and loves the "game." Believe it or not, it really is just a game to him. Obviously I play it up on camera, but as soon as I walk away or move over 4 feet, he comes right over, assumes the position, and we do it again. If I move over again, he comes over again. Pretty cool really. He won't do it for anyone else.

Sick bastards like this jerk cause well meaning dogs to become needlessly aggressive, have to be sent to shelters and euthanized. I hope he realizes his cheap, witless humor could result in the pointless death of a beautiful basneji.

Hi Gregg, I appreciate your good words. Niles is actually having an okay go of it here. He is in no way ill-natured, we just have this little game. Lulu is not at all interested. I can turn Niles off in a heartbeat and it is as friendly to me and other people/dogs as he can be. I know it looks great for TV, but it is all a big show. You would like him. I do not do this with other dogs, I am not cruel. Niles is actually a friendly hound!--Ivan
