It's amazing to me how timeless this program was and is. To this day Mike's character is a truism vs. Archie. The lib/progressives still gripe the world is unfair and refuse to actually work for a days "bread" thinking life should be always equitable and fair. Their always looking for a hand out rather than a hand up. Arch just works keeps his nose to the grinding stone and speaks his mind. Wish we still had those days!

@demmylowther Yes - but with Ford in (A republican) the economy was so horrific they were still going under. Nixon ruined the economy so badly - the entire country almost sank. Almost as bad as the Bush Depression we're in now.

the reason I love this show is because it deals with such important social issues. Also things that we are still dealing with today, especially this episode, the recession, I wish Tv was this good nowadays, hell I hardly even turn my TV on anymore, Thank God for Youtube, we can watch all of the good shows from the past, when TV was good, and people knew how to write good scripts and actors could act!
