This short movie shows the path of flight #4, launched from Alamogordo on June 4th, 1947, in support of top-secret Project Mogul. The device was lost, and when found in July, sparked what is known as the Roswell Incident.
Prof, Charles B. Moore, who launched the balloon in '47, later re-created the probable flight path using atmospheric physics and 1947 weather reports.
This video shows the flight path in 3-D. 3D by Dave Thomas

Google, "An Engineer Looks at the Project Mogul Hypothesis by Robert A. Galganski", for just a start at the problems with the Project Mogul explanation. Once again, just to make it real clear, I'm not taking a side here. I do not know what crashed near Roswell in 1947 but I am aware of how the military works and what I can guarentee you is that if a UFO did crash today and if the military could get to it in time, then yes, they would cover the whole thing up.

I can't tell you what crashed near Roswell, all I can say is that if you just accept the Project Mogul explanation as being true without researching and demanding the same hard evidence then you are in the same category as "true believers" that it was a UFO. The Project Mogul explanation has many errors. For one it used standard meteorological compenents, nothing extraordinary that would confuse people.

@BrokenAeroVT, the Dave Thomas I'm referring to is NOT the Wendy's Dave Thomas, nor the comedian Dave Thomas, but the scientist Dave Thomas, the one who posted this initially (from what I remember). Still say there's the logical explanation, but I'm like Mulder, I want to believe...

@ladythanatolia Big headed aliens started in the late 19th century with HG Wells. In the early 20th century they morphed into a more humanoid form like the little green big headed alien Kazoo of the Flintstones cartoon. In the 60's they took on insect like dark eyes. In the 80-90's they became associated with Roswell, & hybrid theories. Now in the 20th century they're part of a NWO conspiracy. It's a growing cultural fabrication, sort of like elf & leprechaun myths that scared people long ago.

@ladythanatolia I liked Dave Thomas' hamburgers, too. Not the one's they make now, but the ones he made back in the 70's. mmmmmm burrrrrrrrrgers....thick, drippy burgers. Wendy's of the late 70's...I want to believe!!!!

Don't know what to say about this. The conspiracy theory side of my brain says it was an alien craft, but the logical side of me says the balloon theory is correct. Besides, I know Dave Thomas, and he is not one to fabricate data.
