Listen to the sound of the movement that has been created through DoSomething.org, through the visionaries, the movers and shakers, the unified, the de-centralized, the centralized, the grass-rooters, dogooders, and administrators.
Listen to the absence of that movement, as if we took away everyone that has been affected by a DoSomething.org activist, employee, volunteer, and listener. The world is quieter, a little less focused on a positive social transformation, yet it still runs. The void will continue to be met by the Ashoka's, Net Impact's, Key Clubs, Rotaract's, UNICEFer's, National Honor's Society's, and the countless number of other organizations. We do similar things, we capture similar people, we empower action for similar projects, and in the end we simply want to exist, connected to the Youth, calling them to act for the betterment of this world.
As I see it; polite competition, rigorous progression, well-spoken intentions, unfaltering connection, and unified hip professionalism will win the youth over in this world of non-profits, for-profits, families and communities.
I am Paul Hemminger. I am a community organizer, business person/student, lover of empowering marketing, writer, social marketer, optimizer, and a friendly face. I wish good will upon everyone, especially those who are hurting themselves and others, those who are leaders and organizers, those who are moguls and market mavens, and finally, those who have real and fake power over people.
I believe in nurturing the body, mind, and spirit through exercise, laughter, our basic needs, nutrition, hurtful and fulfilling experiences, difficult to handle information, trust, friendship, community, and pushing oneself beyond unimaginable limits. I have a feeling that our generation is becoming one of collective voyeurism; yet we share these stories, quotes, pictures, and films to expose parts of our self that we don't willingly share with our own words. I think another half of our society are the creators, the innovators, and the doers that create the media that moves us. It's important in this day and age of clubs, societies, and organizations to empower both, so to move both towards unified action.
I hope to work for you!
