@meoirin it's not that lee's attacks were shit, it's that gaara's defenses were stronger than lee's attacks. On another note, the only factor that hasn't been mentioned is speed. How would neji fare against rock lee's speed pre time skip? Sure neji might be able to see lee's movements but it wouldn't mean anything if his body can't react as fast as his sight.

@sk8ter11122 gaara is the shittest character in naruto speaking in hand to hand combat so even after his sand defense was broken he still was able to move, so how shit those hits were? neji's defense in other hand is pure chakra, of course it spend alot of chakra but so does the gates, it would be a race of who run out of chakra first

@meoirin actually, lee broke through the sand 2 times. plus got past the first defence. the sand is chakara infused so like meoirin said, its harder then steal. plus gaaras defence is up 24.7 and neji's is only able to be activated when he gets in stance and spins around a few times. its even stated that gaara has the hardest defence in the show. so lee could defentaly kick nejis ass. 5 gates would of gotten gaaras defence if his body didnt give up. neji dont have that. hes dead meat to lee
