Rochester Theatre Organ Society console removal part I

About the slickest way (and also scariest) imaginable to get a console off a lift when the lift doesn't quite go up to stage level.

With Wicked coming into the Auditorium Theatre, the show needs the pit to be lower than it is, which means we have to take the console out. Since the lift doesn't go all the way to stage level, Russ Shaner, our crew chief, designed a way to raise it the extra 10 inches using a tube steel frame underneath and eight lengths of schedule 80 pipe. The console is permanently bolted to the steel frame. The pipes have been inserted here. Roger then takes the lift down...and we all hold our breath.
