The voice is pretty if not distinctive. She certainly had technique and musical grace to spare, and this is the best soprano Rosina I've heard in a long time. She was also a superb Gilda, clean-lined and heartfelt. Wonderful souvenir, this. Thank you!
I remember Gail Robinson very well. She held her own in the coloratura repertoire in an age of Sutherland, Sills, and Peters. Robinson was the possessor of a naturally beautiful voice capable of tossing off fiorature with ease and fluency, as well as being a consummate musician. Thanks for sharing, coloraturafan.
I find it odd that you would characterize Gail Robinson as a mezzo after listening to this video. She made a career by singing light/coloratura soprano roles: Konstanze, Lucia, Pamina, and the like. That being said, it most certainly is fabulous singing!
This is a wonderful tribute to the late Gail Robinson. I believe she was underrated as an opera singer, although she had a good career, including the Met, and contributed much to promotion and education of singers after her singing career was over. She has a light mezzo voice, as opposed to other Rosinas, and that's fine. I love her facial expressions. Of course, this is in a higher key than some others.
@meltzerboy ... She had a most pleasing and fluent ease of utterance in her fiorature.

Yes, agreed. Galina was certainly very underrrated as an opera singer.
