Actually, Pikachu's name has nothing to do with these. It's a combination of "pika" which is the Japanese onomatopoeia for electricity, and "chuu" which is the Japanese sound for a mouse.

the inspiration from pikachu came from 2 things; the words "pika" (a spark or charge of electricity) and "chu" (the onomatopoeia of the squeaking noise a mouse makes) in japanese; and these animals.
