No, there is not going to be something like with Oblivion in this game, if you mean by continuing after beating the main storyline, this is a story driven game it would be a bit pointless to continue after beating the main story, you can restart with a different character, and there is a playable epilogue at the end of the game.

Out of all the minor interveiws at conventions, this one is definately the most concise. If theyre going to hand out free reign for content like Bethesda did with Oblivion, then this game is gunna blow every other (non-mmo) out of the water, can't wait for BG Revival!
though i have a strange urge to slap the host with a wet smelly fish.

and I also think that character continuation in rpg games for further games in the franchise is a very good step forward in the way we play. I would love to spend alot of time in origins with my character and then maybe continue with the same character in future games

I am excited for this game now I think, at first I thought it was another oblivion-like rpg but this looks like it is shaping up to be something good on its own. this and borderland will keep me happy till ffxiii
