  • this was Herb Kent sign off song on WVON AM back in the 60's and 70's. Thanks.

  • This song I heard when I was five years old Daddy Jack Homes would play this song at 5:30 A.M. om WPCE I would hear my daddy getting up to get ready for work and I would hear his radio come on at 5:30 Lord Bless Us

  • Gooodnight Mrs.Livingston (Grandma Julia) I Love U.

  • This was literally the first song I ever learned how to sing...I was three years old...my teenage cousin used to sing it at church and we often played it on our 45 record player at home in the late fifties. My mother made a reel to reel recording of me singing it when I was three...its been lost over the years but I still remember the words and sing it today! I haven't heard the original recording in many, many years...thank you so much for posting this wonderful song.

  • God Bless for this post....EXCELLENCE!!

  • @branstan8000, I too fondly remember 'Open Our Eyes' at the end of every Herb Kent evening show, and Aquinas too (had girlfriends from there, in the early heavenly 70's). But one correction to Sis. branstan8000's comments: Mt. Carmel was Aquinas' brother school, NOT Mendel.

  • I must say this song has connected tons of people from Chicago. I was born and raised on the Southside in the Englewood Community. My mother played this song regularly at our house. My sisters and I would sing it all the time. It takes me back to my childhood, Hamilton Park, Rainbow Beach, 63rd Street Shopping Center, The Englewood Theater, Empress Theater, Community on 47th and Halsted, Parker High, Lindbloom and St. Stevens for steppers. Robert Hall, Taste Disco, and Downtown Chicago

  • @TheBiggPoppy OMG we must have grown together, you named everything that this song reminds me of! But mostly it reminds me of my grandmother......
