http://www.hookedondriving.com Hooked On Driving shows you how to combine braking and downshifting into one seamless movement. With practice you'll be doing this on the road like a pro, braking while simultaneously blipping the gas, clutch and selecting the next lower gear. Now you're ready to power out of the corner after braking... ©2007 Hooked On Driving

  • good tut. i use it sometimes on public roads like coming off a freeway but never used it on the track, would really like to try some day

  • whats the name of the background music being played?

  • whats the name of the background music being played?

  • In the beginning I used the side foot as shown in this video. Problem with this technique is the right foot has a likely chance to slip off the brake (I had those moments!)--which could be dangerous entering a high speed corner. Using the heel or bottom part of the foot is much safer IMO and with continued practice becomes a heck of a lot easier to execute.

  • @jgizzy Well yea if you just let go of the clutch

  • @Lillie1986 Compression braking can damage your engine because sometimes the engine will be forced to increase revs MUCH quicker than it could otherwise. This fast change in engine speeds can cause bearing damage, rod bolt failure, or rod stretching. It can even cause your timing belt to snap.

  • @Lillie1986 "Compression braking" too early (too high rpm) is called a "rod stretcher" and can damage your engine.... The point of heel/ toe is to match revs so there's no driveline shock that may cause rear tires to skid.

  • Its hard in my F Body; The accelerator pedal is farther back by about 2 inches :/

  • Compressionbraking doesnt damage your engine, its just very uncontrollable. Its very easy to lock the wheels, especially the rearwheels on a rearwheeldrive car which can cause a spin.

  • finally, a video that shows how its done!
