This contraption was built to measure how well skateboard decks bounce off of the ground, pop. The deck is clamped around its center of mass, to minimize the effect of gravity. The clamped board is attached to a 10,000 count per revolution encoder wired to a LabJack U3 data acquisition board. The data streams slightly delayed from the action. The V -shaped trace is is used to calculate the incoming and exit velocities of the tail tip, and the pop of the board.
