Detectives with the Beaumont Police Department and surrounding law enforcement agencies in Southeast Texas are asking for the public's help in identifying and locating the suspect and vehicle in the video.
Over the last week 3 victims in the Southeast Texas area have had their credit card numbers stolen then used at local stores in Jasper, Woodville, Vidor and Mansfield Louisiana. Detectives think the suspects are stealing the credit card numbers by skimming them, photographing them using a cell phone, or using a device where they can steal the number from a distance of a few inches while the card is still in the victim's wallet or purse. There have been news reports of this recently
The video shows a black female wearing a checkered shirt and glasses. She makes a purchase at the register at the Walmart in Jasper. She then exits the store and leaves in a black Chrysler van with Washington plates. The vehicle is a rental. The vehicle was rented in Los Angeles on 4-10-11. Detectives suspect they drove from there to here and may have been doing this all along the way. They think they are staying at local hotels and someone has seen them or knows where they are.
The Beaumont Police Department advises citizens to checks their statements regularly and report any problem to their credit card company and the police.
