in reality the ship was the ''Christian Raditsch'', a Norwegian Training ship from Oslo, It visited Douglas ,Isle of Manabout 1981/2, myself and some friends rowed out to it when it was at anchor,looking through the portholes we could see that the original oil lamps had been converted to electricity ,still very authentic.I believe she was burnt out several years later sadly.

When I was a kid in Germany...a hundred years ago...the whole family saw these episodes on Saturday eve, ate fish with potatoes and drunk hot bläck tea with a little bit of run ...my father with a little bit more run.
What a wonderful time...you never come back.
