We promised you'd hear it here first. SMARTT is recreating the classic and well known HO track plan, the Atlas Central Midland, done the 'SMARTT' way.

The Atlas Central Midland plan was originally designed by John Armstrong for Atlas' plan book. Now we are applying our own inimitable style to this popular design. That means it is a little larger and features high speed curved turnouts with broader curves. Benchwork is open grid, with all framing and sub roadbeds cut on a CNC router table from ¾" cabinet grade plywood. Lots of elevations, lots of hidden staging track, integrated risers, and much more. We'll be documenting this build along the way with photos, video, and time-lapse photography.

This month's Picture of the Month isn't a picture at all, but a video. We talk a lot about the process of creating layouts, but it has been hard to show how we do it, until now. Here is a Time-lapse video of the first day's assembly of the SMARTT Atlas Central Midland's first module (of 2).
