Are you prepared for an emergency, such as a disruption in utilities or quarantine? How would you cook and wash yourself, what would you drink?

Watch as we evaluate our emergency preparedness, as we live in our house for five days without electricity and water from our taps.

  • I understand the idea of the experiment, but in the sense of loosing all the utilities you would have to start preserving your meats almost immediately, do you have the setup for smoking your meats? just some food for thought.

  • @demonjames We don't eat meat. We would in times of need, and I have books on how to smoke and preserve meat if necessary. Thanks for commenting.

  • The first thing to happen in any shutdown of normal utility services will be most jobs will cease -- since currency will acquire a whole new meaning, the rationale for working will undergo serious revision based on how long a shutdown lasts and to the extent the economy is disrupted. Fending-off desperate scavengers & securing vital resources of food, water and fuel for heat/cooking will radically affect social dynamics, with personal security becoming a major issue.

  • @starmanskye Wow, well said. Sounds like Argentina.

  • Great idear this.

We sould all do this at least once.

    You called it a TAP!

Is the u.s.a. the only country that call them faucets?

  • @RDPproject Faucet is the proper name for them. Maybe I'm too lazy, and saying tap is less effort.

  • You really wanna test, a real test? Shut the water completely off, shut off the main in your pannel, and gas line if you use natural gas-no hot wawa, no cozy furnace. Hire a dozen people to randomly stalk you're house and kick in the door when they decide they're hungry enough, stab your gas tank of the car(s) and drain them, dig a hole in the back, then shit in it and wipe with your favorite jersey and while your there, build a bird trap because from now on, your eating anything that moves.

  • First thing I noticed, is that the rain water should be saved for more potable situations, or even washing, it is the softest water to use on you or your clothes. I would use, "used" water" for your toilet, that being water you save from washing your hands, body, or even clothes. When you take a shower, use a baby pool in the tub to collect the "used" water. Also get the water from your water heater, it's potable. If you go to work, remember fuel isn't going to be dispensed.

  • life is so hard without electricity ....... Great video. Looks like bagels was MAD at you lol

  • I take it... you were not in the Boy Scouts or the Military.

  • Ok, the use of the toilet water for drinking, NEVER drink tank water. Practically every tank has fungus growing on the sides, sometimes it is not visible. Best place to get water if from hot water heater.

  • Hello. Just one question, BIG ONE: If there is a disruption in water and things like that, don´t you think that other people would very likely STEAL IT/USE IT regardless of you being the one who collected it?

  • As for your luch,I was tempted to say use ready-to-eat items. But then I realized that when SHTF,you would want to hold up inside and boil the rice and beans first. The most labor-intensive food items-use them first because after a serious emergency that will cause chaos in the streets such as Obama getting placed back into office, hunger causes weakness and agitation, lack of focus and sleepiness. At that point,go ahead and open a can of Spam and dig in!!

  • dude, thought you were goinng to eat biggles

  • LOL BIGGLES IS PISSED!!!
