Today saw no less than six class 37s in action on my local patch, as the RHTT season commenced, along with another week-long run of test trains.

We start at Gunton where, after seeing a badly wheel-flatted 156422 heading to Cromer, 37218 leads 3W99 Cromer-Stowmarket tailed by 37059.

We then head over to Spooner Row to see 37194 leading split-box 37087 "Keighley & Worth Valley Railway" running as 3S63 Colchester-Norwich via Ely.

After a quick chippy tea at Attleborough the final stop of the evening is at Eccles Road, to see 37602 leading 37423 "Spirit of the Lakes" on 1Q13 Stowmarket-Norwich

  • missed another test train :( nice shots mate, its sad to see that nxea dont look after things properly but then probably part of the reason they lost the franchise. bring back B.R.

  • @dj205205 Keep an eye on Anglia Gen as I think we are due another test train this week once the bridge work on the Norwich-Lowestoft line is complete. It looks to me like NXEA are just running their stock into the ground now until they lose the franchise.

  • Brilliant! Heard these beasts from my garden at wymondham but now at least i have seen them too thanks to your vid, nice one !!

  • @dieselmanmike Thanks Mike.

  • Very nice video Chris. That 156 must have being deafening to the ear as it passed! Great collection of 37 action, you even got a nice bit of thrash in the first two shots. The night time shot at the end was excellent.

  • @HomeMoviePerson Thanks Hayden. Sadly I've recently had to get used to the sound of wheel flats as they are so common on the 156 units now it's unbelievable. Never seen so many 37s in one day!

  • @NapierNimbus Thanks Ian. Pretty much every 156 running on the local routes now have 50p coins for wheels due to poor maintenance and lack of back-up units. NXEA really are stretching the stock to the limit before they lose the franchise next month!

  • Lovely shots and some great 37 thunder and getting the RHTT squirting - the water jets operate at 1000 (yes one thousand) PSI so have to be kept moving while jetting - those wheel flats must have driven that driver mad - that's the problem with disc brakes nothing to rub on the wheel, the old shoe brakes would rub off minor burrs on the wheel flange surface depending on the severity, and help clean the wheel in leaf fall season
