From the Metro Transit Archives comes this video of Orange County Transportation Authority NABI 2314 operating on Route 57 to Newport Beach Transportation Center. This bus when recorded still had its original Detroit Diesel Series 50 Gas engine which has since been converted to Cummins ISL -G Plus. Enjoy!
hey anybody noticed that these buses now have engines that run off of compressed natural gas??

It makes sense. LNG was really only ordered by four to six transit agencies, OCTA being the biggest. If these buses didn't get converted, you're dealing with three different types of fuel and one in general for only 150+ buses

Tsk, it seems a lot of agencies are repowering away from DD50's, including our own LACMTA who is in the process of repowering the New Flyer C40LF's. Plus they have already removed them from the New Flyer C40HF's and the Neoplan AN440's (1999 Series). Not to mention they're already testing different engines on NABI's. wow....

Well with Series 50 being discountinued, it would be harder to find parts as these buses get older. Cummins seemed like the likely choice

I got lots of recordings of this bus. It was the last Nabi to get repowered.

This bus was one of my first sound recordings Even with the A/C on, you could really still hear the Series 50 shine through
