An octopus in the wetlab onboard NOAA ship Hi'ialakai. This creature is posing as a photography subject for Susan Middleton before being released back to the water at Kingman Reef.

  • The octopus was only in the tank for 20 minutes or so for photography. It was returned to the reef where it was found.

  • It was only in the tank for 20 minutes! I dont think it affected its life a great deal!

  • shut up hippie.

    beautiful octopus.

  • when will we learn. we as a human race now have the technology and passion to unite and heal the world and the ocean. if you are not going to put in the effort then at least project love and positive energy to all living creature of our wonderful planet. god bless you all even the ones that hate and live in fear and anger. may the world enlighten itself and look after nature and it's reefs.

  • DUDE! That octopus needs at least 70 gallons of water to move around. And please put in some gravel, some rocks, decorations, a filter, and a heater [unless if it's a cold water octopus, then don't put in a heater]

  • i feel sorry for it.. put it in a bigger tank
